Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization/Graston

IASTM is a manual therapy technique that uses specialized tools to target areas of soft tissue dysfunction. There are a variety of instruments that can be used to treat scar tissue accumulation and minimize tissue restrictions. Improving the quality and extensibility of soft tissues can help to restore range of motion, decrease pain, and improve function.

One of the IASTM techniques commonly used by the chiropractors at Huronia is Graston®, a non-invasive technique whereby a stainless steel tool is used to provide friction massage over areas of adhesions.

IASTM can be used in conjunction with other therapeutic techniques to treat injuries such as rotator cuff injuries, shin splints, carpal tunnel syndrome, hamstring strains, tennis elbow, and many more.
