What is plantar fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is a repetitive strain injury of the connective tissue that forms the arch of the foot. The plantar fascia can become irritated with overtraining, overuse, aging, weight gain, repetitive stress, biomechanics, muscle weakness, or poor footwear.
