What does a massage therapist do?
A massage therapist uses a hands-on approach to manipulate the muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments, and joints of the body. These techniques are important for the health of the muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems; thus contributing to overall wellbeing. Massage therapy plays a major role in the process of improving physical function, decreasing pain, and relieving/preventing stress. At Huronia, our experienced clinicians use their extensive knowledge of human anatomy and specialized skills to best meet your therapeutic goals.

What should patients expect upon their first visit?
An initial assessment with a Massage Therapist will begin with a detailed history regarding the patient’s medical history, family history and current symptoms. The therapist will devise an individualized treatment approach that is best suited to the patient’s needs. A massage therapy session will consist of specialized movements of the therapist’s hands over the skin/clothing in order to promote circulation, reduce muscle tension, and restore movement.
