Sciatica
What is sciatica?
The sciatic nerve runs from the lower back, through the buttock, and down the back of the leg into the calf. There are a number of mechanisms that can be the source of “sciatic” pain. The underlying cause could be spinal, muscular, or even leg pain unrelated to the sciatic nerve.
Common Symptoms
- Pain in the lower back that travels through the buttock, hamstring, and into the lower leg
- Burning/sharp/shooting/tingling pain
- Weakness in the leg
- Numbness in the leg
