What is carpal tunnel syndrome?

The carpal tunnel is a space on the underside of the wrist through which a major nerve travels into the hand and fingers. Repetitive movements, inflammation, wrist injuries, and other factors may put pressure on the carpal tunnel and compress the median nerve. This causes what is referred to as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Common Symptoms

  • Pain/tingling/numbness of the thumb and first two fingers
  • Weakness or clumsiness of the hand/fingers
  • Pain that increases at night
